Body-Connected Yoga Certification

A trauma-informed yoga certification that meets you exactly where you are.

200-hr Yoga Teacher Training

March 9th — July 9th, 2025

Tuition is $3500

The group will be limited to 10 students to allow for a more intimate container and deeper connection.

The practice of "Yoga" as a physical discipline has thrived in the Western world for several decades, leading to the emergence of various styles and brands. With an abundance of programs and trainings available, the question arises: How does one discern the best fit and why? What truly defines a skilled and impactful facilitator?

At Breath and Body School, our primary goal is to empower teachers to discover their unique voice and cultivate an authentic teaching practice. We truly believe that the most effective "healers" are those who engage in their own continual self-exploration. Exceptional facilitators understand that in order to hold space for others, you must first be able to hold space for yourself. This emphasis on self-inquiry and discovery is reflected in the Trauma-Informed initial segment of our training.

take it or leave it but here’s our two cents:

For years, Western Yoga has been affiliated with a self-proclaimed governing body known as Yoga Alliance. We intentionally lack Yoga Alliance Accreditation and have no intention of pursuing it. Yoga Alliance operates on a membership-based certification model, requiring ongoing fees from teachers and training organizations. Notably, they don't conduct their own certification programs, workshops, or classes. Their accreditation is granted to those who meet their stipulated criteria by paying annual dues. With numerous yoga teacher trainings and certifications available, the notion of a singular governing body appears impractical. Instead of trying to check off boxes for someone else’s qualifications, our Body-Connected Yoga Teacher Training program focuses on empowering students to become exceptional teachers by internalizing the practices.

Common issues found in current Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) programs include:

  1. Failure to teach or immerse participants in the essence of being trauma-informed.

  2. Designing training programs predominantly from a masculine perspective, akin to Western Medicine.

  3. Neglecting to impart intentional and effective alignment principles.

  4. No focus on intuitive movement.

  5. Overlooking the crucial incorporation of the breath in yoga.

With 18 weeks of live classes dedicated to establishing a Trauma-Informed foundation, our facilitators are not only learning the foundations of trauma and what it means to be trauma-informed, but they are guided to experience their own healing and how to approach themselves in a trauma-informed way. This invites authenticity and integrity to our teachers’ experience that they are then able to extend to their future clients.

We believe that this combination sets BREATH AND BODY SCHOOL apart from others. If you feel that this is in alignment with your values and perspectives, we’d love to have you join us!

Please note that about HALF of the hours of this training are in-person hours, and the other half is outside PRACTICUM WORK such as attending, observing, assisting, and teaching classes. There is also some reading, journaling, and self-study. YOGA is very much a practice of SELF-STUDY. If you want to attend this training just for learning and don’t care to ever teach, then maybe you don’t bother to complete all the practicum work and officially obtain a 200-hr certificate. But if you DO want to teach and hold space for others in healing containers, then the practicum work is extremely important!

You learn the thing by doing the thing…

We will ABSOLUTELY help provide you with opportunities to volunteer teach in communities that could benefit from free yoga.

Weeks 19-20
